Isolation Day 48: I Finally Reinstalled MacOS

Now Just To Install The Apps and Updates.

For a while now I’ve been meaning to reinstall MacOS. I usually do this once a year to clear out the rubbish on my computer that has built up over time. I’ve been putting it off since I got it around three years ago as I was using it for my university work. Since then I’ve not had the opportunity to actually do it with one thing and another.

Today was the day that my MacBook Pro got a refresh. After spending 5 hour backing up everything to my network drive (The Barn), Those wedding photos do take a fair chunk of space. A quick download of all the installers I need, MimoLive, QLab, CleanMyMac X, Little Snitch, Logic Pro & uTorrent to name a few, and I’m ready for the main event.

Creating the boot USB was the trickiest part of the whole process, and that’s only because I can’t remember the terminal command. An hour, and some hunter chicken and chips, later and macOS Catalina is installed and ready for all my apps.

It’s quite amazing how a simple reinstall has cleared out over 100GB of files I don’t need, Another reason that I like to reinstall MacOS. The other reason for this reinstall was so I could install Fortnite on my laptop. It may sound silly but when Abi & I are playing one of Abi is usually on the Playstation while I take the iPad. The only problem with that is we can’t play Save The World together, as Epic have decided not to include it on the Mobile version.

It may be a bit of a cheat but we are trying to build up our V-Bucks to get our hand on the battle pass. For me it’s a bit of an experiment to see if the pass rolls over to the next season, probably not other wise how would the make money from a free game. For Abi she want’s the Deadpool costume.

It may be full of spoilt 12 year olds screaming down their headsets at you because you didn’t shoot the right person or stole their kill. We’ve actually had one of these said 12 year olds promise to buy us an iPhone 11 if we turned our microphones on while playing squads, did he was annoying, but that is the joy of a mute button.

It is really fun to just run round and complete missions together and waste of bit of time during lock down. I’m actually tempted to start streaming some of our matches, not that many people will watch them but just so I’ll have something fun to remember this lockdown by.

Do you regularly wipe your Operating System of choice? What apps do you install on your newly installed system? Do you play fortnite? Let me know in the comments bellow.
