Is Anyone Else Disappointed by Marvel’s TV Offering?

Don’t get me wrong, I love how they expand the universe but couldn’t they be so much more?

When Marvel announced that they would be releasing a bunch of TV shows that tied in with their Cinematic Universe I was over the moon. When WandaVision was released in 2021 I was blown away, This was new it really felt like it had the budget of a full-fledge Marvel movie. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier wasn’t bad it had a similar style and it was great to see the relationship build between the two characters. Loki, in my eyes, was by far the best of the three shows released By July 2021 as not only did it bring Loki back (always a win) but also explained how the MCU was going to deal with the Multi-Verse.

Then we come to what I see as the start of the decline of Marvel’s MCU TV offering. The episode of What if…? were interesting but honestly felt like I was 5 years old watching an early morning cartoon. Again I like how it gave some examples of the multiverse theory and gave us a glimpse of what we will see in future films. Still, it did just feel like a series of explainer videos loosely wrapped in a story to get people used to the idea of the multiverse. But we had done this with Loki.

Shang-Chi Came Along and knocked my socks off, I know it’s not a TV show but it did give me hope… well until lI watched Eternals, which was just not up to the marvel standard in honest opinion. But after watching Eternals I remember, Hawkeye was on its way and I’d have something to watch that might make up for Eternals.

I was a little disappointed If I’m honest. I know it was really just to introduce the younger replacement but the series really could have been boiled down to half its length and still have done a good job.

With the very mixed bag over the last few TV series, Marvel has released, I’m kind of worried about watching Moon Knight. I’ve not watched it yet as Mrs Jim is rather pregnant at the mo so other things have got in the way, Like making a nursery out of my old office. But I’m not sure If I want to. I know that it will “further the plot” in terms of the MCU and It would be great to see another character brought into the universe but I don’t want to be put off any more than I already am.

From what I have heard Morbius was terrible (though I’m not sure if it’s as bad as the 2 hours of The Batman I managed to make it through before giving up) Again it’s something else that I’ve not had the chance to watch and I’m hoping that this isn’t going to be the start of a downward trend for the movies too especially after Eternals.

Hopefully Doctor Strange can pull it out of the bag in the way Spider-Man: No Way Home did and set the MCU film slate back on course but I really think Marvel needs to work on their TV game as I’m starting to think that Marvel has got into the TV Streaming side of things because everyone else is and the quality is lacking because of it. The only time the shows have seemed to shine is when there are members of the core avengers involved and even then Hawkeye and Falkon & Winter Soldier were not amazing.

Let’s hope things improve with She-Hulk because I really want to enjoy watching all of Marvel’s TV shows and Films and not just the Old film here and there as I may miss out on something spectacular. Is it just me that feels this way or does Marvel need to put some effort into the offerings rather than living off past glory? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
