This Apple Transition has been painless
Everything still works on macOS 11 & iOS 14
A couple of weeks back apple release their beta versions of macOS & iOS to members of the developer program and me, being me, upgraded all of my devices to check out the new operating system and see what they could do. One thing has struck me though. Everything still works.
Usually, when I’ve done these major beta upgrades in the past at least one of the programs or apps I use day to day don’t work. This time though everything just works. Even the apps I’ve had to install for work haven’t had an issue and this has really shocked me.
I don’t know whether Apple has done something on the back end to facilitate this or all of my device updates are just visual upgrades adding support for the ARM Macs to come later this year. I’m hoping it’s the latter of the two as though we’ve got a few new features in iOS to add widgets and Siri has changed a bit among other things the only major difference between this year operating systems and last years is the design.
I’m still playing with a few things and once I upgrade my phone later this month I’ll be apple to give iOS a proper going over though I’m not expecting much to be different between the 7 Plus and the iPhone 11 Pro that I’m looking at getting (well except for Face ID).
It does make me worry for next year though as I have a feeling that there may well be some major changes coming on the back end now that Apple has updated the look and feel of their devices. Only time will tell and you never know a future update to this years operating systems could stop something from working.
Have you had any troubles with macOS, iOS or iPadOS since updating to the beta? Where do you think Apple is going with future updates? Let me know in the comments below.
