The Playstation 5 Looks… Interesting

and the gameplay looks amazing

You may be surprised to hear but for once it wasn’t me that wanted to watch a tech product launch. I know surprising right. Usually, if I want to watch a product launch I have to get comfy in my office and spend an hour or two by myself. This time it was Abi that wanted to watch the PS5 launch, so I got to see it on the big screen in the living room.

Overall I think it was a good launch, I do wish there were more details about the hardware and more in-depth “chats” with the developers about how they have utilised that hardware. I did like the animated shapes as not only were they creative but there were more than just a couple of styles so you can tell that a lot of effort went into their “live” stream.

Most of the gameplay looked absolutely amazing. More than a couple of them looked better than a few of the photorealistic animated films I’ve seen. It really is mental how far gaming graphics have come over the last 25 years. I remember when the PS1 was launched and playing Grand Turismo and being blown away with the graphics then. Having just seen the gameplay from the latest version I’m once again shocked at home amazing the gameplay footage looked. It does make me wonder if this is how realistic gameplay looks on the PS5 how good is it going to be in a few years when the PS6 is released.

Now we come to the elephant in the room. The look of the PS5. The diskless version look s absolutely amazing, so slick and polished, though I am wondering if you can put this thing on its side so it will fit in a tv cabinet, The version with a disk slot looks like it was an afterthought that was just dumped on a few days before the launch as someone realised that they still sell games on disks.

I don’t like the look of the controllers and I wondering how easy it will be to use the controllers without those distinctive buttons that make it easy to play without looking at the controller. I get that they wanted a controller that matches their slick looking console, but I can’t help but wonder.

Overall I’m really impressed with everything and especially can’t wait to play Sackboy’s first stand-alone game. What were your thoughts about the product launch? Will you be running out to buy a PS5? What games are you looking forward to playing? Let me know in the comments below.
