Isolation Day 63: I’m really fed up with Mobile Internet

Seriously @SMARTYMobileUK what gives?

If you’ve read some of my posts before. you may know that we don’t have broadband internet. We actually have a 4G mobile connection. When we lived in Beverley this worked great. We had the occasional problem that nine times out of ten was fixed with a quick reboot.

This all worked because I bought a Wireless Switch that had a built-in 4G modem (the Huawei B593s-22) it was great for what we needed in our small flat even ion the WiFi was only 2.4 GHz. The Modem also has a couple of ports on the back that allow you to attach a landline phone so you can make a receive calls as well as browse the internet.

Since we moved back to Bridlington though we’ve had nothing but trouble and there seems to be one reason for that. We Switched to SMARTY. SMARTY is a UK Mobile Provider that runs on top of the Three network. It’s run by three as a SIM-only network, just like how Voxi is run by Vodafone.

I have tried everything over the last few months to try and get the signal to stay connected. but try as I might nothing has stopped me having to reset the router 8 to 10 times a day. I even put the SIM into our mobile hotspot and were still getting the same problems. I’ve tried moving both the moile hotspots and the 4G modem around the house and nothing has made a difference.

I finally reached the end of my weather and kindly provided them with a review. I got a response from them. unfortunately, it wasn’t a bunch of tips or we’ll look into it for you. it was just “Sorry you have to keep resetting your router”. That was it.

I’ve decided that as soon as I get my first wage I’ll be moving over to a Vodafone landline for our internet. Not only because I will be working for them by then but because they are the best value for money for the speed your getting.

It’s only £30.95 a month for their fastest plan that gives you 55Mb/s guaranteed speed with a top download speed of 63Mb/s as well as a 20Mb/s upload speed. It’s also fully unlimited (Free Anytime Calls & Unlimited Downloads) and they’ll chuck in an Apple TV 4K and 12 months of Apple TV+ for free, it’s like they made this deal just for me.

The other reason I like Vodafones broadband offering is is the Ultimate Broadband Guarantee. If our internets speed drops bellow 55Mb/s we will get a 15% discount until the problem is fixed. It the little things like that that make me want to be a part of Vodafone. The if it’s broke, you won’t pay full price until we’ve fixed it approach is the right way to do customer service.

It will be absolutely amazing to have internet speeds higher than 7Mb/s and we may actually be able to do some game streaming with some of that 20Mb/s upload speed too.

Who’s your current broadband provider? Have you had trouble with Mobile Broadband? Let me know in the comments bellow.
