Isolation Day 19: Designing A Bathroom

I knew I shouldn’t have gone on Ikea’s website… Again!

Yesterday I had a look at Ikea’s Kitchen Design tool and whilst I had a few issues trying to get a price out of the thing, Overall it was a fun experience.

Today I thought I’d have a go at redesigning our bathroom to see if I can make it a bit more usable. The layout currently look something like this.

It’s basic and has none of the mod cons. I haven’t been able to put in the built in shelf/pipe cover to the left of the toilet. I would like to rearrange the space and see if I can add some little bits and pieces to make the place a bit nicer.

First things first though we need to head to Ikea Bathroom Planner. the initial page will show you a ton if different products as inspiration. if you click on something you like you’ll be asked to pick a couple of starting products. once your’ve done that you can click on Plan Your Bathroom to the right of the screen. You’ll be sent to a page that looks like this:

If you click on the bathroom layout to the right you’ll be able to select the shape of your bathroom. Once you’ve done that you can drag the walls so they are the right side.

Once your rooms all set use the Add and Edit section to select items to put in your bathroom. I started off by putting my current layout in so I knew what I was working with before making any changes. For me thought, I’m going to start moving my bathroom about until I have something I like. Firstly I’m going to move the bath to the back of the room (opposite the door) and figure out where I want the shower, toilet and sink.

So This is what I managed to come up with. I’m sure that my best mate, and plumber, will hate me if I ever asked him to convert this bathroom for us but I think the new layout really uses the space better and gives room for a bidet and tall cabinet, as well as room to keep the litter box in the bathroom.

I know it was a bit of a shorter post today but there really not much to Ikea’s bathroom designer. What do you think of my design? What would you change? What are you going to do with yours? Let me know in the comments bellow.
