Isolation Day 6: My Dream Hackintosh
For the last few months I’ve been trying to find out what it would take for me to put together a decent mackintosh computer. The build had a few prerequisites
Prerequisites & Reasoning
- Run both MacOS and Windows
- Whilst I mainly use MacOS for day to day tasks some of the software I use just won’t run on MacOS
- Cope when using 3D software such as Blender or WYSIWYG
- I’m starting to develop my 3D modelling skills in blender and have found that my laptop just isn’t cutting it when rendering out file. WYSIWYG also suffers from similar problems as it simulates the lighting and concerts and other events.
- Receive camera inputs and act as a video switcher and stream to YouTube
- Eventually I would like to have the ability to take this computer to events and have an all in one solution that enable me to plug any inputs in to it then either record to the hard drive, stream to YouTube (or both).
- Cope as a Plex Home Server
- When at home I tend to watch TV & Films that I already own and it would be great to have a system that doesn’t turn into a pile of goo when it need to transcode 4K videos on the fly (unlike my Mac mini).
- Edit and render out 4K video using Davinci Resolve
- Editing 4K is pretty hardware intensive and whilst I can edit 1080p videos fine, just about, I have access to a 4k camera but am unable to do any meaningful editing of the footage.
- Play a game or two from time to time.
- While it doesn’t happen often I would like to occasionally fire up a game or to and not be running at 4 frames per second.
The Parts
So after a few months of research *COUGH* watching YouTube Videos *COUGH* I think I’ve finally figured out the setup I’m looking for.

Don’t worry you don’t have to buy any of it (unless you want too 😂) it’s the only plugin I could find that would let me create a Wishlist that wasn’t for WooCommerce.
So what do you think? Is there something I’m missing (except the capital to buy the parts)? Do you think this will be powerful enough? What would you change? Let me know in the comments I’d love to hear your suggestions.
